COURTROOM UPDATES - 6/10/08: Rachel's friend waited all night for her return
posted at 4:25 p.m.: Rachel Entwistle's close friend Joanna Gately testified today how she and her sister spent most of the night on Jan. 21 and Jan. 22 in the Entwistles' driveway.
She said she was concerned because the Entwistles were not at home for a planned dinner. She was also worried because the couple missed a planned get together with Rachel Entwistle's mother, Priscilla Matterazzo, that same day.
"We decided to wait to see if they were out and were going to come home," Gately said.
Except for some bathroom breaks, she and her sister, Maureen, spent the night in their car in the driveway.
The following day, a neighbor who had a code to open the electronic garage went into the house and looked around, but found nothing, Gately said.
She also testified she thought it was Neil Entwistle's idea to buy the BMW.
Also testifying was Hopkinton Police Officer Aaron O'Neil, who told the court that officers found nothing suspicious in a well-being check of the home on Jan. 21, 2006 the day after the alleged murders.
posted at 1:19 p.m.: WOBURN - Neil Entwistle made several cash withdrawals and tried, but failed, to take out more money the day his wife and baby were murdered, a Citizen's Bank employee said this morning.
The ATM card used by Entwistle was connected to a joint bank account with his and his wife's names, said bank employee Julie Aloisi.
The account was more than $2,375 in overdraft.
On Jan. 20, 2006, the day of the killings, Entwistle withdrew $400 from an ATM at Logan Airport, but had several other withdrawel attempts denied. The attempts were all recorded on security video and played in court this afternoon.
Aloisi said Entwistle also withdrew $400 from another ATM, but was again rejected when he tried several more times to take out cash.
Also, a pair of British Airway employees at Logan testified about Entwistle buying a ticket to London, and boarding the flight without any luggage.
posted at 11:22 a.m.: WOBURN - The Hopkinton "welcoming lady" said she thought the Entwistles were a great family and that Neil Entwistle was "an adorable" father.
Pamela Jackson testified this morning in the seventh day of Neil Entwistle's double murder trial. He is accused of killing his wife, Rachel, 27, and his daughter, Lillian Rose, 9 months.
"At the time (when she met them at their 6 Cubs Path home on Jan. 15, 2006), I thought it was adorable," she said. "He was doting on the baby."
Also this morning, Entwistle's mother, Yvonne, left the court in tears, escorted by her husband, Clifford, when testimony began regarding her son entering the Logan Airport parking lot on Jan. 20, 2006.
